Creative Women’s Conference 2014
So a couple of weekends ago, I attended the Creative Women’s Conference in Denton. I had the best time ever. I met so many women who work in different artistic fields and got inspired. This conference came at a good time for me because I just started a new full-time job that isn’t really artistic at all, and I was feeling a bit depressed and uninspired and I would get home too tired and uninterested to draw. I saw all these women excelling at what they do nomatter what they were going through and it pumped me back up.
When we got there we were a few of the first ones there (I though traffic would be wild. It was not) so we set up calmly and on time.
I had Daniel and Monnika there as my Box crew! We had a couple of prints I debuted there plus I had my portfolios, originals, and resume there and they were the best pimping out the comic, especially while I stepped away for panels. Love these two.
My first panel was “Art, Comics, and Graphic Design” with Halo Sama of Shonuff! Studios and Kristen McGuire of Kris Comics. We talked about how we got into the artistic field, how we spread our name around, and how as artists we support each other. It was a wonderful panel because both of these women are inspirations to me and sitting next to them at a panel, I was just so honored. I also hope I inspired some at the panel.
Then I went back to the table with the gang for a little bit and did some plugging and commission detail explanations, then it was time to go to the second panel “Art Dojo!” There Halo, Kristen, and I got to sit down with the panel attendants and just draw. We played some fun drawing games and everyone was just so talented! It was so much fun!
We ended the day having met so many great new people, spreading the word about the box, and hopefully leaving behind some inspiration for everyone. I hope this conference continues every year.
